During a time when they most need basic information and support regarding their identity and sexuality, LGBTI+ individuals do not receive any support from their educational institutions, cannot meet other LGBTI+ people and foster solidarity, frequently receive bad advice from teachers or guidance counsellors, and are often victims of bullying. In educational materials, they encounter negative stereotypes of LGBTI+ people that have no basis in scientific facts.

SPoD works with teachers’ unions, universities, other educational institutions and LGBTI+ family organisations in order to make it easier for LGBTI+ people to come out and accept their own identity during their time at school. It provides a venue for educators to share their experiences and solutions, and gives them information about LGBTI+ identities.
