MARSEL TUĞKAN GÜNDOĞDU DIRECTOR OF BOARD OF INSPECTION
Marsel Tuğkan Gündoğdu was born in Mersin in 1994. He studied in the English Language and Literature Department in Istanbul University between 2012 and 2014. In 2014, he got accepted to the Comparative Literature Department at Istanbul Bilgi University, and he is currently a senior at the said department. Since 2012, he has volunteered at various LGBTI+ organizations and associations. Since 2013, he has been a member of and volunteer at Amnesty International, Turkey. He worked as Emergency Action Coordinator for five months, and Istanbul Activists Group Coordinator for 18 months at AI. Currently, he is AI’s participant to The Action Lab 2017. He has interned at Research Turkey and Anatolian Lit. Copyrights Agency. He has been a columnist at Güney Gazetesi, a Mersin based local newspaper, and a reporter for KAOS GL and Yeşil Gazete. He has worked as project coordinator in KAOS GL’s Funding Guide for LGBTI+ Organizations. He has completed the summer course organized by Migration Research Center at Koç University (MiReKoc). He continues his volunteer work in the field of LGBTI+ refugees.
SEVDE AVCI MEMBER OF BOARD OF INSPECTION
Sevde Avcı earned her bachelor’s degree in Law from Istanbul University in 2016. During her studies at university, she participated in various programs and trainings in the field of European Union law and refugee law. She completed her internship at the consultancy department of a law firm in Istanbul and is registered at Istanbul Bar Association. She has acted as member of Board of Inspection at SPoD since October 2017.
YUNUS KARA MEMBER OF BOARD OF INSPECTION
Yunus Kara earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Service from Ankara University, and his associate degree in Justice from Eskisehir Anadolu University. Between 2014 and 2015, he worked as KAOS GL in Ankara both as Social Service Specialist intern and as a volunteer in various activities and projects. Between 2015 and 2017, he worked with special needs children and youth with mental disabilities, and with children and youth with Down syndrome and Autism. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Social Service at Istanbul University, and is a Research Assistant in the same field at Altınbaş University. He delivers training sessions in fields of discrimination, human rights, social inclusion, conflict, conflict management, negotiation and mediation. He continues his work with LGBTI+’s, asylum seekers, migrants, refugees, and other different disadvantaged groups.
