MELIKE ARZU ŞAKİROĞLU CHAIR OF THE BOARD
Melike Arzu Şakiroğlu was born in Erlangen in 1976. She attended primary school in Germany, and finished her secondary education in Adana, Turkey. She has worked with SPoD since February 2017, focusing her work on advocacy for trans rights. Her primary goal is to further and expand the work that has been carried out by TranSPoD, the trans advocacy group within SPoD formed in early 2017, and to make SPoD’s efforts in the field of trans rights more visible. She is currently serving as the managing director of the board at SPoD.

Müge Akbasan has earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Istanbul Bilgi University. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Human Rights Law in the same university. She gained experience in cooperation and communication during her high school and university years when she worked as a trainer in youth camps. Upon graduating from university, she worked as editor and reporter in various alternative media agencies. She continues her work as a reporter on a voluntary basis. She is employed at a digital advertising firm as Customer Manager. In March 2017, she participated in SPoD’s Activism School, which started her active involvement and work in the organization. She regularly attends workshops and trainings in order to strengthen and expand SPoD’s communication strategies. She has acted as the Co-Director of Communication since June 2017; and as Vice Director of the Board since October 2017.

MUSTAFA SARIYILMAZ ACCOUNTANT OF THE BOARD
Mustafa Sarıyılmaz earned his bachelor’s degree in Sinology from Ankara University in 2012. He became involved with the field of youth studies in 2006 which laid the groundwork for his professional life. He worked at the Ministry of Youth and Sports both as a volunteer and professionally for a long time. His work in the field included youth education and training, and he continues his work in the field via national and international collaborations. He is currently employed at a humanitarian aid organization. Since 2009, he has worked in various Anatolian cities where he sought to engage LGBTI+ youths in capacity building activities and raise their awareness. He has worked in the field of refugees and forced migration for a long time. In March 2017, he participated in SPoD’s Activism School, which started his active involvement and work in the organization as a volunteer.
EVRA ÇETIN MEMBER OF THE BOARD
Evra Çetin earned her bachelor’s degree in Law from Marmara University, her master’s degree in Public Law from Istanbul University, and her doctoral degree in Public Law from Marmara University. She continues her work in academia in the department of General Public Law in the Faculty of Law at Okan University in Istanbul. She has volunteered in various non-governmental organizations. She is currently a member of the board at SPoD.
