We published our 2022 Annual Report, which we prepared to inform our members, volunteers and followers about our work!
On September 21, 2011, we started our journey to fight against violence, oppression, social exclusion and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation in all areas in Turkey, and we continue our journey leaving 11 years behind.
In 2022, our LGBTI+ Helpline served 295 days and provided peer counseling 2698 times in total from 69 different cities. In addition, we provided 632 legal support, 626 psychological support, 278 social service support and 238 academic support. We organized 23 face-to-face and 48 online talks with the participation of 345 people in total. We published 13 publications and 2 audiobooks during 2022, where we ran 5 separate campaigns and held 112 events.
During our Turkey is Ready for This campaign, we reached 2,213,299 people on social media. We published our documentary “Bizler ve Benzeri” (Us and Like Us), in which we talked about the details of our visits to Ankara, where we held meetings with political parties as part of the campaign. During LGBTI+ Pride Month in 2022, we carried out a communication work called #ResistLubunya. Throughout the work, we published content that will empower LGBTI+ people in Turkish, Kurdish, English, Armenian, Arabic and Persian. We took part in the 30th Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week with 4 different events.
We rejoice to spend another year together with all that we are, are not, or cannot be. We know that there are many of us, many things to do, many queers to cross paths with. All the love and solidarity to everyone who stands for this worthwhile struggle all over the world!
