SPoD Academy, which began in 2012 but was paused for a year, continues to expand its activities to meet the evolving needs of the LGBTI+ community. SPoD Academy has expanded its scope beyond academic studies to include culture and arts. The goal of the SPoD Academy and Culture-Art Unit is to provide a space for LGBTI+ individuals to express themselves through aesthetic and emotional forms while producing their own knowledge.

The second publication we have prepared in this context is the ‘Inclusion Handbook for Researchers Using Survey Methodology’. It provides tips on how to conduct inclusive research for all researchers, regardless of their affiliation with academia, civil society, or as individuals.

Due to the historical distance of the LGBTI+ movement from the positivist approach and quantitative research, the survey method has not been widely used in the field of LGBTI+ studies. Additionally, many researchers who use quantitative methods are not receptive to criticisms from LGBTI+ activists due to concerns about ‘scientificity’. This has resulted in the underrepresentation of LGBTI+ individuals in these studies, and when they are included, there are often issues with research methods and academic ethics. This guide aims to address this gap.

The guide is available for download in both Turkish and English!
